Kenya&Tanzania Cradle of Mankind.

An incredible trip that worked out very well, considering the number of us and all the logistics like transport and flights that was involved. We learnt that wild animals are very unpredictable and that patience is the key if you want to have a great game viewing experience. I would recommend spending a little more time in one spot instead of rushing to the next sighting. Take for example a sleeping lion. We did and saw them mating after the safari vehicle left. The river crossing in Maasai Mara took a lot of patience. I am pretty much sure that we would have witnessed a croc attacking had we spent a little more time in the same spot. Pure luck helps too as does being in the right place at the right time- our leopard Kill for example was luck, also my finest moments of the safari are not the finest sightings but rather those silent moments in the Maasai Mara and Serengeti plains waiting for action but at the same time being in absolute awe of the natural beauty unfolding in front of our eyes. Saving the best for last did not work for us, the best was front loaded in the Maasai Mara and the presumed sure thing-the Ngorongoro Crater turned out to be a bit of an off day for us but even down there I realized just how fortunate we were and the incredible scenery. We had no idea however that the Migration would be so early in the Mara this year and the Western Serengeti was supposed to be the best chance of seeing the Migration. We saw the animals in the wild and hoped for more except a cheetah. The leopard kill , the morning with the pride of Lions and zebras in the Mara and the river crossings with thousands of gnu in the Serengeti, the misty sunrises amidst the acacia trees will stay with me forever. I hope in some small way we contributed to the continued sustaining of the ecosystem and that the private conservancies will continue doing a great job employing the Masai and other local people and making them realize the animals are definitely worth saving. We hope to return. Asante sana.

Kenya&Tanzania Cradle of Mankind.

Go with World Escapes for your safari! I did a 10-day package with them (Jan, 2020). After checking with several safari companies (both U.S. and abroad) World Escapes had the best price. I went on a Tanzania safari which included Lake Manyara, Serengeti, and then Ngorongoro Crater. Afterwards, I flew to Zanzibar Island for a few days and stayed at a wonderful east coast beach resort. I was so thankful to have Napthtally organizing my trip. I thought it would be tough doing everything by email, but he was very prompt (and patient!) in answering my questions and was very accommodating to my preferences. I had late notice that I had to do the trip alone, and being a single female in a very foreign country made me a bit panicked. However, Napthtally was very reassuring (even through emails) that he would arrange for everything and that I would be taken care of every step of the way. He was not lying! He was waiting on me with a warm greeting when I arrived at Nairobi's airport. I stayed at a fantastic and historic hotel: the Stanley Hotel. At no point on my trip did I feel unsafe or confused as to what I was doing or where I was going because there was always someone meeting me and taking me to where I needed to go! It was good to feel secure. My last night before I flew home Naph took me to Carnivore Restaurant. Ask anyone who's been to Nairobi, and they will mention this famous restaurant. He was great dinner company and the food was meat heaven. One caution: If I could do anything different, I would have wired the money before I went to Kenya. I found out when I got there that it's a pain to convert and pay for the safari with traveller's checks - even though I went to a large bank in downtown Nairobi. It would have made my first day less complicated. In case your curious, here's a list of the places I stayed. I love to camp and I was on a budget, so these places aren't luxurious, but they were VERY NICE tented lodges and I have no complaints about any of them! Lake Manyara - Mgunga Forest Camp (monkeys outside your tent - sooo cool!) Serengeti - Ikoma Safari Camp (friendly service) Ngorongoro Crater - Crater Forest Camp (wonderful!) Zanzibar Island - Mtemwe Beach (best food and an awesome, clean beach!) Asante sana, Napthtally, for making my trip a good experience and a very memorable one. I hope to see you again soon!
