Lake Baringo is, after Lake Turkana, the most northern of the Kenyan Rift Valley lakes, with a surface area of about 130 square kilometres (50 sq mi) and an elevation of about 970 metres (3,180 ft). The lake is fed by several rivers, Molo, Perkerra and Ol Arabel, and has no obvious outlet; the waters are assumed to seep through lake sediments into the faulted volcanic bedrock. It is one of the two freshwater lakes in the Rift Valley in Kenya, the other being Lake Naivasha.[2] It lies off the beaten track in a hot and dusty setting and over 470 species of birds have been recorded there, occasionally including migrating flamingos. A Goliath Heronry is located on a rocky islet in the lake known as Gibraltar
  • Lunch
  • After noon boat ride and visit to the pokot village.

Diner and overnight in lodge (Tumbili Cliff Camp subject to availability) Meals Included: L / D / BB

Day 5: Baringo / Bogoria / Baringo

  • After breakfast, depart to Bogoria for a full day excursion in the reserve. The lake lies in a trough below the Ngendelel Escarpment, a sheer wall 600 metres (2,000 ft) high. The lake covers 32 square kilometres (12 sq mi).[2] It is geothermically active on the western shore, with geysers and hot springs.[3] The geologist W. Gregory described the lake in 1892 as "the most beautiful view in Africa".[4]
  • The reserve is in a semi-arid area. The only major river feeding the lake is the Waseges River, which rises on the northern slopes of the Aberdare Range. The Waseges runs through productive agricultural land higher up, through bush and scrub used for grazing, and then through very dry bush before entering the lake at its northern end.[5] The lake is surrounded by grasslands dotted with bushes. There is acacia-ficus woodland to the south, and the north merges into a papyrus swamp.[1]
  • The park was opened in November 1970. Facilities for tourists include the park lodge, three public campsites and one privately operated campsite. Visitors may also bathe in the hot springs, which form a natural spa.[6] The reserve was submitted as a candidate World Heritage Site in 1999.[5]
  • Lunch in the park
  • Return to Baringo for a quiet evening.

Diner and overnight in lodge (Tumbili Cliff Camp subject to availability) Meals Included: L / D / BB

Day 6: Baringo / Naivasha (3h30de route, hors « pauses »)

  • After breakfast, depart to Naivasha. Lake Naivasha is at the highest elevation of the Kenyan Rift valley at 1,890 metres (6,200 ft) in a complex geological combination of volcanic rocks and sedimentary deposits from a larger Pleistocene era lake. Apart from transient streams, the lake is fed by the perennial Malewa and Gilgil There is no visible outlet, but since the lake water is relatively fresh it is assumed to have an underground outflow.[1]
  • The lake has a surface area of 139 km², [2] and is surrounded by a swamp which covers an area of 64 square km, but this can vary largely depending on rainfall. It is situated at an altitude of 1,884 metres (6,180 ft).[2] The lake has an average depth of 6 m (20 ft), with the deepest area being at Crescent Island, at a maximum depth of 30 m (100 ft).[2] Njorowa Gorge used to form the lake's outlet, but it is now high above the lake and forms the entrance to Hell's Gate National Park. The town of Naivasha (formerly East Nakuru) lies o n the north-east edge of the lake
  • Lunch

4 reviews for Magical Kenya experience

My family had a wonderful experience with World Escapes – they absolutely exceeded our expectations and I would recommend them without hesitation.
They are honest, reliable, deeply knowledgeable and friendly.

I lived in Nairobi years ago, and thus went back and forth in deciding on a final itinerary. Naphtally suggested different itinerary options; he was patient, super helpful, responding to all my questions within hours, adjusting our trip, providing lots of hotel and other options, and (once we finally decided) arranging hotels and internal flights between Masai Mara and Amboseli. Naphtally brought to me attention that we had overpaid by $200, and we were reimbursed upon our arrival. World Escapes driver met us at Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta airport in the late evening, which was great after 24 hours of traveling from Canada.

For six days, Robin drove us to Aberdare, Lake Nakuru, Hell’s Gate and Masai Mara. In addition to his impressive knowledge of the countryside,
wildlife and the national parks, Robin was friendly, funny and warm. Similarly, Mosses was our guide at Amboseli, finding lions, cheetahs and (of course) elephants, as well as explaining the area’s remarkable bird life.

Of course we all await the pandemic to end. When it does, my family is already talking about another trip to Kenya, and our choice – without hesitation – would be World Escapes and Adventure Travel.

Hi World Escapes team, we lived the best experience of our life. What a guide we had. His name is Albert. He made this experience unreal. Always taking care of us and willing to explain about animals, culture and national parks, he knows everything. On top of that he is a great human being, always making you feel safe and pleased during the whole trip. Thanks Albert for being such a professional safari guide and such a great human being. We will never forget this experience.

My teenage son and I had a great experience courtesy of World Escapes. Robin was our tour guide, and he was friendly, courteous, knowledgeable and obviously very experienced, overall an excellent guide. We saw an amazing amount of animals in a short time, definitely more than expected or compared to what I have seen on other safaris. The accommodation at Amani Camp was excellent, with very friendly and helpful staff. The food was also very good, including some local dishes. The booking process and pickup arrangements were also very professionally done. I would definitely recommend World Escapes and Adventure.

We highly recommend World Escapes & Adventure Travel for your Safari experience in Kenya!

Naphtally goes the extra mile to make sure his clients are provided with a safari that meets their expectations and budget. He even came into his office late on a Sunday just to meet with us and plan our last minute booking. He was also accessible and professional throughout our entire adventure, including meeting with us when we got back to hear our feedback. Naphtally is thoughtful and is truly interested in making his client’s safari adventure the best that it can be!

Our driver and guide, Paul, is highly experienced. He knows the parks and where the animals and most beautiful scenery can be found. Paul also has a wealth of knowledge when it comes to the animals, birds and plants of the region. There wasn’t a question he couldn’t answer. Paul was always cheerful and considerate. He’ll tell you he loves his job and it shows!

We did a six night/seven day safari through
Samburu National Park, Lake Nakuru, Lake Naivasha and Masai Mara. This itinerary was perfect for us because we got to enjoy the beauty and animals of Kenya from north to south in different habitats. We did a budget safari and were very happy with our basic accommodations. All of the facilities were clean, we had many good meals and slept well. In Samburu the food was outstanding! There was a young chef, Preston, who customized all of our meals. He was one of the highlights of our adventure.

We saw an amazing variety of wildlife on our safari — all the Big Five and more!

Don’t hesitate to use World Escapes & Adventure Travel, especially if you’re on a budget. They will work hard to provide you with a great experience!
